Papa Joe
Papa Joe takes the FAWM challenge Posted: Feb 3, 2007

FAWM (February Album Writing Month) is a group of songwriters who each February commit themselves to writing 14 songs in 28 days (29 on leap years, I suppose). They have been doing it for four years. I just heard of it this year, and, since it's been almost two years since I wrote and recorded a new song, this seemed to be just the thing to motivate me to break my writer's block. So far, it's working--I have written two new songs, and you can find them on the fawm.org webpage (click on Links and it's listed there).

Papa Joe Now on MySpace Posted: Nov 10, 2006

OK--I finally bit the bullet and set up a page on MySpace.com. The URL is myspace.com/papajoek. Don't forget the 'k' at the end of 'papajoe'--apparently, some kid has 'papajoe.' Weird, but true. Anyway, I've already got a dozen friends or so, most of them fellow singer/songwriters from the SummerSongs community. Apparently, you can have DEAD friends as well, like Janis Joplin or Townes Van Zandt. Yes, they have MySpace pages. Technology and the spirit world interfaced at last...

"A Modest Goal" places fourth in SixPack Contest Posted: Oct 24, 2005

My song, "A Modest Goal," won fourth prize in Broadjam's SixPack song competition in the Jokeland category! This song is my rant about drivers who don't use their turn signals while driving. It's on my CD, "Open Mike," available from CD Baby. It's also available as a single download from iTunes.
